Starting to Sew
I thought it was about time to learn to sew. I think it’s a very useful skill to have in life. I was given my Nana’s sewing machine and a very old sewing box that belonged to her Aunt (I think that would make her my great great Aunt!).
My mum has an up to date machine and I have been tinkering around on that and getting used to how it works. I decided to start on something basic and after ordering some patchwork squares from eBay, I made a couple of patchwork cushions. I sat myself in front of the machine with the squares and off I went. Once I got started it didn’t take me long to sew the squares together.
I only used the squares on one side so on the back I just sewed together a couple of pieces of plain material which I over lapped.
It’s not perfect and not all the squares line up but I am so chuffed with this first attempt and it now sits proudly on my bed along with two more that I’ve made since.
